New Swedish Envoy Meets AL Chief
No cooperation from govt in holding dialogue: Hasina

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has alleged that her party did not get genuine cooperation from the government side in holding dialogue with the ruling party on electoral reforms.The allegation came when newly appointed Swedish Ambassador F Dritt Hagstron met Sheikh Hasina, also leader of the opposition in parliament, at her Sudha Sadan residence in the city yesterday.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Sheikh Hasina yesterday told the outgoing Russian ambassador that her party would not participate in the next general election if the proposed electoral reforms are not implemented and a democratic environment for a free and fair election is returned in the country.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) MA Aziz yesterday brushed aside the allegation of the Election Commission's (EC) failure to make a flawless voter list.
"There is no failure to prepare the voter list and the answer is no, no, an emphatic no," he said when a reporter asked him if he would resign admitting the "failure."

Chief Election Commissioner Justice MA Aziz yesterday dismissed any possibility of his resignation taking the responsibility for his failure and lapses in irregularities in the process of listing draft voter lists for the next general election.
