AL against Ershad joining four-party

Posted by Nirbachon on July 29, 2006

Key leaders of the Awami League and its alliance partners are trying to convince former President HM Ershad not to join the BNP-led ruling four-party alliance through some influential leaders of his faction of the Jatiya Party.

Insiders said some senior leaders of the Awami League-led alliance yesterday sent a message to Ershad through different channels, including his younger brother and party leader GM Quader, MP, and Jatiya Party (JP) Presidium member Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury, saying his joining the ruling alliance would be counter-productive since the government became totally isolated from the people.
